While you are at Club Mudgee for ANZAC Day tomorrow, take a moment to have a look at this year's ANZAC Day Quilt that is on display thanks to Pam & Chris Bellhouse.
The quilt is named: Goodooga and reflects the story of Harold West and George Leonard who are pictured on the quilt.
Harold and George were best mates who did everything together.
The pair enlisted together at Goodooga in north-western New South Wales in August 1941, were posted together to the 2/1st Battalion, and served together in the Middle East, Ceylon, and Papua New Guinea.
Their story on the Kokoda battlefield was one of bravery and sacrifice and mateship. For his actions at Kokoda, several officers recommended that Harold be posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.
Lest we Forget.
